Arrive in Los Angeles. Welcome to the Golden State! At 6 pm, meet your traveling companions for a welcome drink. Your Tour Director will prepare you for your upcoming adventure.
Los Angeles–San Diego. Morning sightseeing of this gigantic metropolis takes you from Olvera Street—the oldest thoroughfare in the city—to Hollywood. Take the opportunity to step into the shoeprints of famous movie stars at TCL Chinese Theatre, and also see Sunset Strip and Bevery Hills. This afternoon, travel to sunny San Diego. Enjoy dinner tonight at a local restaurant.
San Diego. Sightseeing in San Diego includes Old Town, Balboa Park, and the Gaslamp Quarter. The remainder of the day is yours to explore. You may wish to visit the world-famous San Diego Zoo, enjoy a cruise around the harbor, shop for souvenirs, or enjoy fresh seafood at a local restaurant.
San Diego–Yuma–Scottsdale. Today, travel inland across California and into Arizona. Stop in Yuma, nestled on the Colorado River and famous for its Wild West history. Continue to Scottsdale, where this evening you can stroll the streets of Old Town Scottsdale with is many boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants.
Scottsdale–Sedona–Grand Canyon National Park. Depart Scottsdale and travel north through cactus-studded scenery for a break in Sedona. Then, set out for one of America’s most beautiful drives as you journey through Oak Creek Canyon, home to brilliantly hued cliffs and rugged spires of sandstone. Arrive this afternoon at GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The spectacular beauty of this famous attraction draws more than 5 million visitors a year from around the globe. This evening, be sure to watch the spectacular sunset.
Grand Canyon National Park. There’s time this morning for an optional flightseeing excursion over the Grand Canyon—an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience. Then, set out to explore the Grand Canyon and learn about its geology and how the canyon was carved. This afternoon, you are free to explore at your own pace. Perhaps join a ranger program, take a nature walk, or just relax and enjoy the views.
Grand Canyon National Park–Las Vegas. Today, head to the desert oasis of Las Vegas, where one-armed bandits, dazzling neon lights, and the incredible Las Vegas Strip awaits. Enjoy an orientation tour before arriving at your hotel for a 2-night stay. Your resort hotel is located in the heart of the “Strip” for easy access to the mega-casinos and plentiful restaurants. Tonight, head to downtown Las Vegas and experience a [LF] private tour of the MOB MUSEUM to learn about the impact of organized crime on Las Vegas history. Hear the real stories and learn about the actual events from all sides. Afterward, be dazzled by the light show at the FREEMONT STREET EXPERIENCE.
Las Vegas. Enjoy a full day on your own to explore the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas. Your Tour Director will have tips and suggestions to make the most of your stay, as well as a range of optional excursions—from scenic helicopter flights to elaborate shows.
Las Vegas–Mammoth Lakes. A day of striking contrast as you journey across the desert landscape of Nevada before crossing into California. Overnight in Mammoth Lakes, just steps away from the base of Mammoth Mountain in the eastern Sierra.
Mammoth Lakes–Yosemite National Park. Leave Mammoth Lakes for YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK. Inside the park, you’ll descend to the valley floor for sightseeing of this wonderland of lakes, cascading waterfalls, lush forest, giant granite domes, pinnacles, and mountains.
Yosemite National Park–San Francisco. This morning’s journey takes you from mountainous beauty to the vibrant city of San Francisco. Tonight, why not join us for an optional dinner outing?
San Francisco. Our included sightseeing tour takes in Golden Gate Park, Twin Peaks, Fisherman’s Wharf, and much more. Next, visit the [LF] JAPANESE TEA GARDEN, the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States. Learn about the history of the park and enjoy time to explore the five acres of native Japanese plants, serene koi ponds, pagodas, and more. The afternoon is at your leisure. Perhaps visit the Museum of Modern Art, the Asian Art Museum, or the Aquarium of the Bay. Or, discover the hippie-era bookstores and shops in the Haight-Ashbury district, ride San Francisco’s historic cable cars, or visit fascinating Alcatraz Prison. This evening, dinner is at a local restaurant.
San Francisco–Monterey–Cambria. This morning, visit Monterey, one of California’s most beautiful coastal towns, where you’ll see Cannery Row, immortalized by author John Steinbeck. Then, it’s on to spectacular 17-MILE DRIVE and Pebble Beach with the chance to see the famous Lone Cypress tree and Pebble Beach Golf Links. Next, visit Carmel, a popular haven for writers, artists, and celebrities. Spend the evening in charming Cambria.
Cambria–Solvang–Santa Barbara–Los Angeles. Visit downtown Solvang, where Denmark has been recreated with picturesque buildings and windmills. Enjoy coffee and a [LF] DANISH SPECIALTY at a local bakery, with free time to browse through the charming shops. Travel through the Santa Ynez Mountains to beautiful Santa Barbara, where the Spanish influence is apparent in quaint whitewashed and tile-roofed buildings. Continue to metropolitan Los Angeles, the motion picture capital of the world. Tonight, your Tour Director hosts a special farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
Los Angeles. Your tour ends this morning with guests departing on individual transfers. Transfers are provided to Los Angeles International Airport.
